The new Razr 2 V8 as pictured above in its dark bluish grey stainless steel frame is soon set to launch in the UK and has already been posted as a hot up coming mobile phone at Phones4u.co.uk. Compared to its popular predecessor Razr V3 / V3i / V3x, the new V8 has many improved features, like a thinner, shiny clampshell framework. Though it is extremely thin, its steel casing makes it very stable to handle and not ‘shaky’ like other flip phones. It has a large external touch sensitive front screen, which vibrates when it is touched and allows you to control the phone’s various functions like music play.

Another new function to the clampshell is its ability to directly read out texts as speech, which is a convenient feature for reading out text messages when your hands are busy with something else!
However, there are some disappointing downsides to the V8, for example, it does not support any type of memory card and has only a small internal memory of 420 MB, although a 2 GB version has recently been rumoured. Also, it is not 3G compatible and does not offer any WLAN function. With only a 2.0 megapixel camera, the V8 may not be the best choice for those who sought a flip phone with high quality photographic capability.

The new Moto Razr 2 V9 is actually quite like the Razr 2 V8, but if you were to hold it in your hands you would instantly notice its difference in thickness and weight. The V9 is approximately 125 g in weight which is about 8 grams heavier than the V8. In terms of functionality, the only main difference is that V9 has HSDPA 3G 3.6 Mbps, with only 45 MB internal memory the V9 will mainly function via using its slot for microSD / TransFlash . Apart from those mentioned above, both phones are equipped with a large 2.2″ internal screen and a 2″ external screen, both with 256k colours and also a 2.0 megapixel camera.
